For over twenty years, Natalie Trayling’s music shaped the soundscape of Melbourne’s streets. A gifted virtuoso, she became a familiar and deeply respected presence in the city.
After experiencing devastating personal loss—including the deaths of two daughters, family mental health challenges, and the loss of her home—Natalie chose to live outside conventional structures. She spent nine years on the streets, a life she described as freeing rather than lacking. In that unregulated public space, she found a way to carry grief, resilience, and music forward.
