This painting combines the rugged mountains of Montserrat in Spain, the flickering candles of the 1,000-year-old Benedictine Monastery, and the religious symbol in the monastery’s courtyard. During an art residency in El Bruch, near the monastery, Jaq Grantford was deeply moved by the landscape and architecture, capturing their spiritual and visual essence on canvas.
