This is a tiny painting, not much bigger than you would be seeing if you're…

2020
So much has happened since my last post. Crazy times!
I think most artists have created something in response to 2020.
And this was mine – a portrait that I titled, ‘2020’. (Oil on Canvas, 100cm x 85cm)
And because of COVID, the obvious choice of subject was me – leaving the house wasn’t much of an option when I was painting this.
I was fascinated with the idea of masks – and how we create our own invisible masks half the time.
And it was also a year without hair styling. I’m an expert at cutting my own fringe now! And I do often tuck paintbrushes into my hair.
This painting will be on exhibition in Spain for the Mod Portrait Prize.
- EXHIBITION BUILDING-PALACIO BANTIERRA DE ZARAGOZA from April 16 to June 11, 2021
- MEAM DE BARCELONA EXHIBITION (from June to August, dates to be confirmed).
I’ve been teaching myself Spanish, so it’s such a shame I won’t be able to get over there to see the exhibition – and practise speaking. I can’t imagine international travel being a thing by then. But I can live vicariously through my paintings, and at least they get to travel.
And as far as learning Spanish – I used the Michel Tomas method to give myself a base and LOVED it. Highly recommend it.
